THE FOUR KORNERZ ARTISTE BIOGRAPHY

In today’s musical climate of short-lived artists and one-hit wonders, Four Kornerz bring their refreshing and timeless brand of music moving across age, style and cultural frontiers.

As many of the world’s greatest singers, both past and present, Four Kornerz find their talent honed and nurtured in Gospel music. Making their official music industry debut in 2004, Four Kornerz are nothing short of an independent label success story.

The core-band is made up of four sibling brothers – Deji (24), TJ (22), Vidal (20) and Daniel (18) who started out as musicians and quickly combined that with their natural singing gift. That fusion of stunning vocals and talented musicianship comes across in their energetic and exhilarating stage presentations. To date they have notched up significant appearances alongside many key artists - Omar, Jocelyn Brown, London Community Gospel Choir, Karen Clark Sheard, Shola Ama, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Kato, The Tribe, Blush UK, Paris (BBC Fame Academy), Adlan Cruz, Siani, The Band With No Name, Christafari to name but a few.

It’s their wide repertoire of musical influences that enables them to appeal to a wide cross-section audience. Sounds embraced by the band include Neo-Soul, Jazz, Funk, Rock, R&B and traditional Nigerian rhythms from their homeland.
In their debut year alone they made four separate visits to London’s leading live music venue Jazz Café plus gracing other
top venues around the UK like London’s Royal Festival Hall, Blackpool Winter Gardens, Brixton Academy, Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre, Hackney Empire, Alexandra Palace, Theatre and Richard Branson’s members only club Roof Gardens. Four Kornerz appeared at numerous high profile events including Afro Hair & Beauty Show, Greenbelt, Kindred Spirit, Race In Media Awards, Space and Black Beauty Hair Awards.

Positive industry feedback is continuously evident for the band. Their debut single “Clap Clap” (released in April 2004) got rave reviews from top music publications Blues & Soul, Touch, I-DJ, Cross Rhythms, Live Listings and DJ Mag who gave the single five stars “one of the most incisive and irresistible soul/r&bers around”. The single also went on to receive Record of the Week at both Choice FM and BBC 1Xtra. The soulful house remix gained top five positions on various international house charts including Faize and TMP.

The band embarked on their first international visit to Germany (Sept 04) where they headlined a sell-out concert in Hamburg. Leading German urban radio station Jam FM playlisted the single, amongst numerous other specialist urban stations, and it also went to number one on Cross Channel’s Top 20 most requested songs, Germany’s leading Christian radio station.

Life before their signing to independent UK label UB1 Music (January 2004), the four brothers had taken part in three song contests winning two of them “Back To The Future Challenge Quest” (2001) and “Talkgospel.com’s Newcomers Competition”(2002), plus reaching the London Heats finals for national TV talent competition GMTV Gospel Challenge (2003). They were also featured on MTV’s TRL as part of The Fighting Temptations Movie Special.

The start of their meteoric rise up the UK industry music ladder has already seen them pick up their first award – Best Group Newcomer 2004 at the Gospel Entertainment Music (GEM) Awards televised by the BBC. The band was invited by BBC Radio London (Dec 2004) where they sang Christmas Carols live, acoustic and unplugged, as voted by the station’s listeners.

At the heart of Four Kornerz is the motivation to create a positive influence through their music and lifestyle. This has resulted in them supporting various charity initiatives: Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Africans Unite Against Child Abuse, Soul in the City, African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust, African Children’s Association and British Telecom Tsunami Appeal amongst others. They participated in the recording remake of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” for “Hands Across The Sea” in aid of the victims of the hurricane struck Caribbean areas (2004). They also supported a recent charity concert for British Telecom (BT) in aid of the Tsunami tragedy.

Musically influenced by their father’s love for all things Classical and Jazz along with their strong family upbringing and firm Church foundation, all this has set Four Kornerz poised to take their exciting inspirational flow to the four corners of the world.
